Publication date: The Heart at War

I am very happy to announce that we have a publication date for The Heart at War, the final volume of the Last Descendants trilogy! The book will be published on the 26th May 2015. I will post international publication dates as soon as I have them but for now, to celebrate, here's a first look at the cover...

The Last Descendants has been an immense project for me, spanning eight years of work - in many ways it has represented my apprenticeship as a writer, and I doubt I will ever work on such a long project again, or one that has been so bound up with my own life and growing up in the way this one, which I began at fourteen and finished just after twenty-one, certainly has. So I'm more than delighted that The Heart at War will soon be published and in the hands of the wonderful readers who have waited so loyally for it. I hope you like Random House's beautiful cover design as much as I do - and even more, I am looking forward to hearing what you think of the book...

Wow, this is really good news. I waited for this book since 2010, when I first read the Dutch versions. I'm really looking forward to this!

I'm so glad I checked in on your blog. This is amazing news! I've been dying to read the last book of the series for a few years! Thank you so much for such an amazing series! Can't wait to read The Heart At War.

Hi! Great to see the trilogy finished!
I recently asked the Swedish publishing house, which has translated and published The Eyes of a King and Voices in the Dark, if they would also translate The Heart at War. To my surprise, they said no, which is a shame. One would think that they would want to complete the translation of the trilogy.
However, I still have the option to read the third book in English of course! So this will be an interesting read, no doubt!

Thanks for your message. And sadly I can confirm this news - some of my international publishers see the trilogy as three separate books and that means that the third book won't come out in all countries simultaneously, and in some it may not be published at all, including Sweden. But I am so glad to hear that you can read the book in English and will be able to finally read the end of the story, after waiting so patiently! Wishing you a very happy Christmas and New Year too.

So where can I find the english version in Sweden? I found the first book when I was at the library searching for something that could make me feel the same way as I did when I was younger and spend all my spare time reading. It surprised me a lot when I found a book that made me read all night, I haven't done it since Harry Potter, and I am really thankful for this wonderful story. It's 1.30 in the night and I am searching the web for the last book, but I can't find it even in the biggest library search database. Help me, please!?

Thank you so much for your comment. What an amazing message to receive as a writer! I am thrilled that you enjoyed the book and that it has meant so much to you - thank you for sharing your kind words. It is nice to know that readers are still reading my young adult books.
My English-language publishers are now exporting The Heart at War, after some problems at the beginning, so it should be available in English from online retailers everywhere in the world. However, if you have problems getting hold of it, or if the delivery costs are too expensive, please let me know, and perhaps I can send you one from here in Italy.
